Hello and Welcome to my blog. Finally my first post and it comes during the right time. At first I didn’t know what to write. Maybe a short story, a film review or maybe something about my life. I chose to talk about my birthday dinner. This year, I turned the big 35! I’m five years away from 40. Every year I always have a dinner with my great friends and husband. This year I decided to go to the Beetle House in Manhattan. I thought it would so much fun. I loved the film as a child and to have theme in honor of Tim Burton and his films is such an amazing themed restaurant!
The place is small. I highly suggest to make reservations before coming here, especially if you are coming in a big group. For it being small, I loved the interior of the restaurant. It paid an homage to Tim Burton. Speaking of reservations, on the site it states if you reserve a table you have to buy the $60 three course meal. Reservations are highly recommended but not required. We had the three course meal but was the three course meal worth it?
Before we got seated I had to take some photos. After getting seated, our server informed us for getting a reservation we had to do the poltergeist feast. The Poltergeist feast comes with one appetizer, one Entree and one dessert.
The food and drinks had cute names in homage to Tim Burton films. I ordered the Bloom’s big fish which is a miso glazed salmon filet with grilled pineapple and creamy wasabi cabbage and pickled ginger slaw. Sounds Delicious. However, unfortunately it wasn’t. The salmon the pineapple was ok. I give it a 7/10.However the cabbage ginger slaw was not what I expected. It had no flavor. I was disappointed. I have to give it a 1/10.My friends, partner and I were so disappointment.
The entertainment was exactly what I expected. These actors who were portraying these notable characters, were the best part of the restaurant experience. The interaction with the guests were more than phenomenal. To give my overall review I would have to give this experience a 6/10. I would like to go again to give a second chance. If you want to go and check it out I suggest to stay by the bar area or If you want to try the food, don’t go for the reservations, if you’re not willing to pay the 60 dollars fee. The best option is to go on a weekday vs a weekend. Now, with Beetlejuice BeetleJuice coming out in september, this place will be packed.
